Later, they inspected via videolink the block train, reloading and marshalling operations at the China-Kazakhstan logistics terminal in Lianyungang and the dry port in the Khorgos-East Gate Special Economic Zone (SEZ), and listened to reports from senior officials and business executives of both countries. The growing cooperation on cross-border transportation between China and Kazakhstan will make a greater contribution to regional development and prosperity. Capt. Xu Lirong, Chairman of the Board of COSCO SHIPPING, attended the video link event at the parallel session in Lianyungang. He reported to the two heads of state that 322 TEUs of cargo are unloaded from M.V. COSCO EUROPE owned by the Group and will be carried by China Railway Express to their destination via Kazakhstan.
Mr. Li Qiang, Secretary of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Mr. Lu Dongfu, President of China Railway Corporation, made a report on port and railway preparations.

A phalanx of nearly 1,000 employees from COSCO SHIPPING, China Railway Corporation, and Lianyungang Port Holdings Group burst into applause and witnessed this exciting moment.
This event marks a major progress in enhancing China-Kazakhstan logistics cooperation from land bridge transport to international land-sea multimodal transport and global logistics chain. By integrating the advantages of ports, shipping and railways, it effectively promotes the seamless connection and connectivity between the land-based Silk Road Economic Belt and the ocean-going Maritime Silk Road. Meanwhile, it opens up a new way for goods from Kazakhstan and other Central Asian countries to be shipped overseas through the port in East China and serves as an important logistics center linking trade routes along the Belt and Road. In addition, it will boost the economic and trade links between China and Kazakhstan as well as the two countries’ relations. Today, the trade and economic development of the two countries is ushering in a new era.
Just 24 days ago, the three-party share transfer agreement on the dry port in the Khorgos-East Gate SEZ was officially signed in Beijing among China COSCO SHIPPING Corporation Limited (COSCO SHIPPING), Lianyungang Port Holdings Group Co., Ltd. (LPH) and Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ), the national railway company of Kazakhstan. According to the agreement, COSCO SHIPPING and LPH would jointly acquire a 49% stake of the dry port which was originally owned by KTZ.
Mr. Huang Xiaowen, Executive Vice President of COSCO SHIPPING, attended the event at the parallel session at the dry port in the Khorgos-East Gate SEZ.
Mr. Amandyk Batalov, Governor of the Almaty Region and Mr. Sanzhar Yelubayev, Vice President of KTZ gave an overview of the infrastructure construction of the Khorgos-East Gate SEZ and the operation of the dry port project at the parallel session at the dry port in the Khorgos-East Gate SEZ.
At the dry port in the Khorgos-East Gate SEZ, “COSCO SHIPPING” containers are reloaded and will be shipped from Lianyungang to Central Asia and Europe.

At the site of China-Kazakhstan logistics terminal in Lianyungang, M.V. COSCO EUROPE is berthing during its voyage in the trans-Pacific major route.
Blue “COSCO SHIPPING” containers are unloaded from the vessel one after another.
The containers are transferred by trucks and will be hoisted to a China-Europe block train in the port area before leaving for Istanbul, Turkey.
Meanwhile, another full-loaded China-Europe block train (Lianyungang–Almaty) is ready to go.
During the event, Capt. Xu Lirong also met with Mr. Li Qiang, Secretary of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Mr. Lu Dongfu, President of China Railway Corporation, Mr. Yang Xingshi, Secretary of the CPC Lianyungang Municipal Committee, Mr. Xiang Xuelong, Mayor of Lianyungang, Mr. Wang Yong’an, Chairman of Jiangsu Port Group, and Mr. Ding Rui, Chairman of Lianyungang Port Holdings Group.
